Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.    Acts 21:13

God is concern about every aspect of our lives. He promised to be with us and sustain us through every difficult challenge. It is in the midst of fiery trials God builds character in our lives.

The scriptures states, ”Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction” Isaiah 48:10. It is in the furnace of affliction God’s makes His choice. So, the question is how  to be steadfast in the midst of trying times? The following list will assist an individual in following God’s will (I Thess. 5:16-22) in hard times.

1. “Rejoice evermore.”

In spite of whats going on always keep a song in your heart or think on the good that will come. Think on lovely things, things that are pure and things that have a good report.

2. “Pray without ceasing”

Develop a consist prayer life. Cultivate it by setting a regular time throughout the day to pray. It’s not the length but the fact the you engage in prayer daily.

3. “In everything give thanks”

Keep a thankful heart. Seek ways in which you can show your appreciation. Either by kind words and sending thank you card/notes.

4. “Quench not the Spirit”

Allow the Holy  Spirit to flow through your heart and mind. By verbally saying, “Holy Spirit have your way” will enable  a constant flow of Ruah.

5. “Despise not prophesyings”

Receiving spiritual authority to speak truth in your life and an open heart to receive godly direction.

6. “Prove all things”

Allow God to confirm that which you’ve received/heard. Go back to the scripture. Also, allow God to prove you by examining yourself to see if you are in the faith. By daily reading the Bible and applying biblical principles.

7. “Abstain from all appearance if evil”

Stay away  from that which is evil. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you into all truth. If it don’t feel right in your spirit. Follow the leading/feeling.

These are just a few things that will sustain and keep you in the midst of the storm. Let down your anchor and trust God in the process. Remember to rest assure that it is working for your good. Further, it is molding and shaping your character.
